The Mike Richards for Simmonds/Schenn/2nd Round Pick - Still Do It?

Cup equals no bitching for 5 years. Don't forget that. If Simmonds scores 50 next year, that's nice, the Kings won the Cup.

Man! This whole "winning the Cup" business sucks for debate purposes.

"Well, we won, so everything obviously was the right move" is a lousy way to keep the conversation moving. I suspect that whenever the season starts, we're going to have similar problems.

Penner in a landslide just out of habit, I'm not sure if Richardson could qualify as one.

What are the odds on a Gagne injury before a Penner benching?

Exactly. Even though I was a Simmonds fan, it was tough to lose Schenn. I still feel this trade is the definition of a "win-win" for both sides. For the Kings, we know what Richards did. For Philly, it allowed them to take Giroux off the wing and become their franchise center, adding Schenn who'll take over the 2C position when Briere moves on, and Simmonds who can possibly net 30 goals next season. In the end, both teams are happy.

Yep. The job for DL and crew now is to go find another Simmonds in the draft....the pipeline needs to continue.

I still miss Simmonds.

Richards allowed the Kings to slot Stoll down from 2C, to 3C where he is an elite 3C (my opinion). That was the most important thing.

Kopitar, Richards, Stoll = Cup
Kopitar, Stoll, Schenn = some more of that "the future is bright" that we love to cling to.
