I've still got my massive man-crush on Simmonds, and looking at what he's been able to do with Philly makes me regret losing him, especially in light of a "quiet" Mike Richards regular season (I think that's fair to say).
Simmonds was yet another victim in the amazing TM offensive system (along with Moulson and Purcell), and combined with the stalled development of Kyle Clifford (who many here thought made Simmonds disposable), I wonder if this is a trade that becomes pretty lopsided, sooner rather than later. I think that everybody felt it was a now vs. the future type of trade, but Simmonds has already started big dividends, and Schenn's not far at all.
Schenn was a legitimate blue-chip prospect, and I think his development/progression is right on track. He's a known quantity. And that second-rounder is what it is.
But Simmonds almost felt like an ancillary/auxiliary piece of this trade, and with what he turned out to be, along with what Schenn's going to be... man!
No regrets... not even a little?
