I've still got my massive man-crush on Simmonds, and looking at what he's been able to do with Philly makes me regret losing him, especially in light of a "quiet" Mike Richards regular season (I think that's fair to say).

Simmonds was yet another victim in the amazing TM offensive system (along with Moulson and Purcell), and combined with the stalled development of Kyle Clifford (who many here thought made Simmonds disposable), I wonder if this is a trade that becomes pretty lopsided, sooner rather than later. I think that everybody felt it was a now vs. the future type of trade, but Simmonds has already started big dividends, and Schenn's not far at all.

Schenn was a legitimate blue-chip prospect, and I think his development/progression is right on track. He's a known quantity. And that second-rounder is what it is.

But Simmonds almost felt like an ancillary/auxiliary piece of this trade, and with what he turned out to be, along with what Schenn's going to be... man!

No regrets... not even a little?

    Long summer?

We won "the CUP", any other question?

If it meant automatically winning the cup I would have traded Schenn and Simmonds for Denis Tsygurov.

    In a New York minute.

I still have my doubts that Schenn can match Mike Richards' ceiling as a player. Simmonds, while a good, young RW, is a replaceable (and was replaced well). Finding center's the caliber of Richards isn't easy.

    Center >> Wing

And the Cup window is now for LA, not in 5 years when Schenn is physically able (if that ever happens)

I was in Hawaii on vacation when I happened to go to my room briefly and turned on my TV and saw that Mike Richards was traded. I sat up and thought...oh please be to the Kings. When they confirmed it was indeed to the Kings, I knew Schenn would be part of the deal. Then they mentioned Simmonds. My first thought? HELL YES WE GOT MIKE RICHARDS!!! That event alone made that Hawaii trip the best one I've ever had. A few weeks later, I was in Vegas and I placed a bet on the Kings to win it all. A year later, I was at Game 3 of the SCF and then attended the parade and rally shortly after. Would I make the trade again? Surely, you jest! I'd drive Simmonds and Schenn to the airport. I never missed either guy a single second because I turned the page as soon as Richards became a King.

We won the Cup with Richards on the team. I have been tired of waiting for 30 years and finally saw it happen. So yes I would do the trade again. The goal is the Cup. Now had we already won some Cups then I may still be disappointed because I see a lot of good in both SImmonds and Schenn and neither have an injury history which still concerns me about Richards some.

But like I said. We finally won the Cup so yes.

I'd like to see a picture or video of this. I think it's highly doubtful he was doing interviews wearing a Flyers hat after he was traded.
