Considering the decimation of our D and JQ's shakiness, a little offensive spark will carry us a long way this season.

Averaging 2.62 goals per game over last eight (since scoring just four goals in first three games), which is just below league average (by .09). Clearly getting better and creating more chances (albeit still snake-bitten) over the last five games (2.8 GPG even WITH a shutout)... who the hell cares about individual point per game stats?

That's cute but the Carter trade, Johnson out, Voynov in etc., were the catalysts that sparked the offense then.

What's gonna be the catalyst this year?

Are they always gonna rely on something to spark them?

This is a offensively talented bunch of individuals.

Why can't they consistently display that as a team?

Some consistency in goaltending, whether it be Bernier or Quick that provides a little stability will improve the W-L record. Neither goalie really needs to be amazing, they just need to eliminate soft goals and trust in the D.

Willie Mitchell is sorely missed, but I would much rather see Campbell play in place of Muzzin. Neither Martinez or Muzzin have been any good this season and if Campbell can outperform Muzzin that will improve the Kings tremendously.

Despite the +/- I don't really have a problem with Doughty's defense at all this year and in fact think he has been quite good. He has had a few mistakes from trying to do too much, but those sorts of things are going to happen. No one can be perfect every game. What I have mentioned several times already is that I would like to at least see Voynov given the opportunity to be on PP1. Doughty no doubt was a beast in the playoffs and I don't judge strictly off of goals/assists, but Doughty is not creating opportunities at all on the PP. His shots are going wide, are blocked, or are telegraphed with no traffic in front. I would just like to see Voynov be given a chance. Even if he is not directly scoring, I do believe his vision and quick passing and creativity will spark other opportunities for the other 4 players on the ice with him.

Kopitar just needs some time to get healthy. He has been the better Kings player offensively in several of the games this year, but he is a step behind defensively comparing this year versus last.

Carter is like a light switch in my opinion. He is either lighting up the red light or he is invisible. People have been saying it for years, but Carter just needs more consistency game to game, shift to shift. He is tremendously talented, but you never know when he is going to come to the rink ready to play.

Brown just needs to keep it simple. See opponent with puck. Smash opponent with puck. Go stand in front of the opposing goalie.

Stoll & Richards need to be better on defensive zone faceoffs.

I think if the Kings clean up a few of the items mentioned above that they would be unstoppable.

May I refer you to the last 5 years worth of LGK archives? Particularly gescom and blando talking about Kopitar and Brown?

Carter is tied for 123rd at 0.64 points-per-game.

And this surprises you? Have you been watching their games? They are having a whale of a time trying to score against the Columbus Blue Jackets for crying out loud. Their offense is indeed offensive.

I think there should be a promotional event based on which player notches a point first: Lewis or King?
