Well technically 2013-14's cap would be set at whatever the revenues end up for a 2012-13 season and the 50-50 split if that's what the PA were to agree to.So it could be more than the $59 mil, could be less if people are angry and don't go to games or buy merchandise.
Yeah...this doesn't make much sense to me. Adding up all the teams salary caps and subtracting that from the proposed cap...would leave around 31 million dollars that has to be cut. As the average salary in the NHL is just under 2 million a year, you're looking at AT LEAST 15 guys losing their jobs. Not to mention, you'd practically be requiring teams like Phoenix and and the Islanders to spend near the cap so the numbers work. Right now you'd have a bunch of teams needing to dump players just to get under that number. MIN would need to shed 10 million in salary cap space (wow I wonder why they're so up there....) but who goes and where? With a cap of 59 million, you provide almost zero room to work with.
A cap this low with no roll back means a lot of veterans will be out of a job, no way I see the players approving this.
