The players need to suck it up and see reality.

Most teams are losing money. Mediocre players are getting free agent contracts like they are all-stars. Revenues go up because ticket prices keep getting raised to pay for the ridiculous salaries. It's not the fault of the players but it is what it is and the system is clearly broken.

The #NHLPA were asking for $1.91B in yr 1 (vs $1.87b last yr) If they stuck to that it explains Bettman's comment.

If the players keep insisting on raises we arent going to have a season.

It's going to take a few years to balance out, probably to the end of this CBA, but what you will end up with is a couple of players on the team making bank and the rest playing for 50% of what they get now.

In the case of the Kings, they are already in that kind of position, but take a look at Boston or Minnesota and they are in for a world of hurt. Then you have trading, how many teams are going to want to take on a $3-4m contract ?
If it goes down to 59.9 Gagne and Penner will be gone. My guess is that Scuderi would be a priority in terms of re-signing.

This is what makes zero sense to me. Keep pushing a guaranteed raise, even though revenues have already been lost? And they're willing to lose a season for that?

**** 'em all. These people suck.

Depends on how you view it (or spin it). That's still a lower HRR% than last season based on revenue projections.
