Fehr says NHL rejected all 3 NHLPA proposals after 15 minutes. Says NHL only willing to work off its Tuesday offer (Take it or leave it)

Fehr on No 3 proposal - players to go 50/50 as long as owners promise to honor all contracts that were signed by players.

Reasonable... yet Bettman stormed out?

Proposal 3 and NHL Proposal should have been negotiated. This is Bettman's fault. I knew he was lying.

No, NHL offer was players pay each other for the honoring of contracts of the difference between 50% and the contract escrow. Yeah Bettman spun that as honoring contracts.

Actually, I don't think that's possible mathematically. The existing contracts will account for more than 50% of existing HRR.

That said, after the dust has settled, I don't think the sides are all that far apart. If the NHL agrees to a smaller or no pay cut for the players in year 1 of the CBA and the players agree to get to 50/50 quicker, we'll get a deal.

Exactly. Why did Bettman and the owners storm out?

Fehr's trying to play chicken with a guy who has demonstrated in the past that he's willing to go with the Nuclear Option.

He's trying to push the MLB Baseball Deal or similar parameters, and the owners want no part of it. They want parody, not the Rangers(Yankees) and Maple Leafs(Red Sox) playing in the World Series every year.

The players need to wake up and understand that they WILL still get hefty chunks of money, regardless of whatever system is put in play by Bettman. Everything has loopholes.

I've expressed this to some others, but if they cancel another season, I think I'm done with it all.

They're not going to cancel another season. It made financial sense for the owners to cancel the season last time. It doesn't this time and it never made sense for the players. The gap is just not all that wide. The deal will be struck at right around all current contracts being honored and 50/50 right after that. But it will take a few more weeks of posturing to get there.
