It's 50-50 after this season, no doubt about it.

They're just stuck on the "honoring existing contracts" thing for this season.

Once less than 82 games are played this season, there's no recouping the money lost.

Yeah, I agree. I'm just thinking that the lockout has hurt the popularity of the league. The NHL isn't as popular as other leagues already, and I'm sure a lockout doesn't help matters. Also, I'm wondering what the salary cap will be set at next season.

The last proposal made it obvious that the owners want to get a full season in. Ironically, now it's the players that hold leverage when it comes to missing games. Fehr will keep them out a bit longer, to get the players an easier drop-off to the 50/50 split.
Still looking at a December start and 60 ish game schedule.

If they do that, I'd love to see every arena empty for that first game back.

Hmmm.... for 18 teams it's the possibility of playoffs that might shoot them into the black. The regular season isn't a money maker. A team like the Kings would seem to be better off with 60 games and making it deep in the playoffs if they had to play under the old cba.

Now that they are at basically at 50/50, they are wasting our time. Give the players their existing contracts in return for the shorter entry contracts and the free agency adjustment, switch Winnipeg into the west and Columbus or Detroit into the east, and make a new schedule where the Kings a team that does not make tickets harder to get in the opener and the Kings play Saturday evening road games in Vancouver (in April), San Jose, and Phoenix. And lose the male ice girls.
