Well, at least I don't have to choose between seeing the Kings raise the banner in Nov or being in WA for the birth of my granddaughter!

I blame the players for the length of the lockout. They are stretching this out knowing the owners will give in since they are the ones losing $$$$$. Players sign other contracts to play in europe. They are not losing anything AND staying in game shape. Some even threatening to stay in Europe for the season. Just wrong - if they weren't allowed to sign elsewhere or even play, this would have been resolved in September.

30-40, if that, out of about 700 have signed in Europe. The average players will get no offers from Europe, only the top 5-10%. On the Kings, I think only Kopitar signed to play in Europe and he's playing for a second-division team which probably pays him an annual salary of about $30,000. The lockout is FAR more painful for the players financially. Hockey income is a small part of the overall picture for most NHL owners.

The longer this Lockout goes, the more time we are able to get our money back from the Kings SC Winning Playoff run and use that money that we have been putting off things we need to do during the hockey season this year. Oh well. I just feel bad for all the people who worked at Staples Center and around the area during the Kings games who won't be able to get the extra income they need to get by because of the lockout.

There's no question that they are the ones hurt the most by this lockout.

Ya had to figure the writing was on the wall with Backstrom heading off to Russia one week ago and Patrick Kane leaving for the Swiss league just a few days ago. If there was much chance of a sudden turn around in negotiations, then these guys would not have bolted so close to the opening of training camp.

Martinez is playing in a league in Finland. And Kopi could be playing in a "better" league, but he wanted to play with his brother.

But you're right that a relavitely low percentage of NHL players playing in Euro leagues.

I kind of blame them too, but you still got this wrong.

First of all, many owners will actually SAVE money, and those who will lose it, will probably not going to lose a ton of it.

Second of all, players DON'T get that much, except for maybe Russia. Everywhere else, it's probably a lot less paid.

So, basically, the players are stupid to have hired Fehr to represent them. Why? Because everyone knew Bettman isn't afraid to pull the trigger. It's like taunting a criminal known for his happy finger to "do it". Would you do it? I sure as hell wouldn't. Does that mean I'd get robbed? Of course, but I'd at least stay alive...

It was one thing when they just delayed the start, where players get only a certain percentage less money. But it's a COMPLETELY different story when a whole season is at stake. Here, the players would be incredibly foolish to try to force anything too radical. Hiring Fehr is now going to bite them in the ass. Not that I want the players to lose money, but the league as it is can't function properly. They HAVE to take a pay cut if they want to play hockey. Period.
