More realistically, I can see a team having to pass on some up and coming players (who are now wanting long, big money contracts) because they are locked in to some incredibly long contract with a player they can't unload.

And now I guess I have come full circle to why the negotiations are so difficult!

Jarret Stoll almost made a huge mistake years ago by marrying that old used to be supermodel, however, with enough pressure from LGK he let it go and now is truly living the dream with 20 somethings and once in a while, possibly locking horns with the great one's daughter.

Only if NBC pays them too, otherwise there's no agreement between the two so I would think NHLPA gets squat

Not quite from the way I read it. They get the 200 mil this season no matter what, but an extra year is added onto the contract, and in the extra year NBC will pay zip. So that final year the owners lose 200 mil.

In the owners eyes they'll take the 200 million now and worry about then later. I would too.
