    Default Bud Light Lockout ?

I realize that this might be a dumb question.

If the players do get locked out and then a new CBA gets done, I assume a shortened season could start. Do the players make a pro-rated salary or do they get the full contract amount?

There will probably be a specific agreement in this CBA regarding that point, but I thought the contracts were for an 82 game schedule so I would assume that pro-rates if they start cancelling games.

Default The Official CBA Negotiations/Lockout Super Thread

Only 23 days to go before the owners lock the players out if no collective bargaining agreement is reached. Not much progress yet, and it's sounding more an more like there will be at least a brief lockout before the talks get anywhere.

NHL labor talks resume - ESPN

TORONTO -- NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says the only way to make progress in ongoing labor talks is to solve the "fundamental economic issues."

Bettman says the two sides remain far apart on those key financial elements after the bargaining session Thursday lasted less than 2 hours between the league and the NHL Players' Association.

Bettman says a small group session will be held Tuesday when he and deputy commissioner Bill Daly will sit down with players' association executive director Donald Fehr and his brother Steve Fehr, the union's No. 2 man.

The four executives also met Wednesday to discuss a way to move forward in the talks. After that meeting, an afternoon bargaining session was cancelled.

The current collective agreement is set to expire Sept. 15. The NHL says it will lock out the players if a new deal hasn't been reached.

Looking at the past with football, basketball, baseball, hockey... would anyone really expect any different outcome? Sure we could be surprised by the extremes of "no season at all" or "agreement before the deadline", but the usual thing these days is lost preseason and/or shortened regular season. It's what I've assumed all along. I'd sure like to be shocked and have it done early but I think we're more likely to have a canceled season than to get things done before the deadline.

A 15 month layoff better help the Kings for the 2013-2014 season.
