Which blog? You should include the link so you can be properly lashed.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Damn, I'm even starting to believe it. Maybe, just MAYBE people in national leagues in North America learned from the past and actually DO try to avoid full season lockouts? Like NBA last year? God I certainly hope so. It's actually pretty convenient. Kopitar and Mursak get to play for national team in a tournament starting tomorrow. It's (IMO) by far the strongest Slovenian national line-up ever iced so it should be veeeery fun to watch. And when this ends, they go both play in the NHL.

Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen. Please God make it happen.

Hearing both sides in meeting spent first 3-plus hours on revenue sharing (among teams); picking up from last night. Not yet on Make Whole..

so they finally got to the biggie, revenue sharing. once that's done, it's pretty academic with the 50/50 agreement.
shocking that it all comes down to the owners fighting amongst themselves over their share of the pie,

This exact spot they are at in the negotiations now could and should have been met back in August without all the useless posturing.

Did you read Marc Crawford's comments about how it is taking players who join the team overseas a while to get back up to speed?

This shortened training camp and quick "get them back on the ice immediately" mentality is going to get players hurt and produce a sloppy game for the first few months.

I'll be as excited as the next guy when it becomes official, but right now I'm just angry. **** this ****.

No, players would never be overseas if the REAL deadline were set to save the season instead of in the middle of November.

No, it could have not been met. Negotiation of a contentious issue usually requires a significant amount of pressure. There was no pressure in August. Especially not on the owners. Now you're hearing about NBC being unhappy, Coors Molson is saying they're going to seek financial restitution from the NHL once the lockout is over. Successful teams are losing revenue. There is now motivation to get things done. It was simply not there in August.
