**Rumor Alert! No link, reliable source, evidence, or proof of any kind**
I heard Bill Carroll today on 640AM, say that he heard from "a friend with connections", that the owners are in no hurry to get anything done yet. They want to punish the players, and are going to let them miss at least another check or two.
Carroll used to live in Canada, so it seemed like a source at least as credible as the whispers in a local Taco Bell.
Well based on Bill Daly's comments today, that sounds like a pretty reasonable rumor.

After reading and thinking over the last week, here's my take:
The owners have no reason to negotiate at this time. They have their "Drop Dead Date", and by just letting the players sit, they feel they can gain more in the long run by making the players wait.
They likely will move off of their position, but they don't need to until they want to start the season (January starts the sweet spot in the schedule).
**EDIT Sure enough, Bettman said to take a couple of weeks off.
They come back at it the first of December, hammer out an agreement by the 15th, start camps and have a nice Xmas break, and start up with games on the 26th.
I'm ****ing brilliant.
Still gotta wonder how the league will handle the collateral damage. I can't believe they'd be naive enough to not have plan B's for franchises like Phoenix, FLA, Nashville, Columbus, etc.
