The last sessions broke off when bettman refused any wiggle room on the contract issues. none. the nhl has repeatedly gone with the "our way or the highway" ultimatums. Maybe bettman thought the union would cave after losing another players check. they beat the union last time, and expect to do so again. can't say I think they are wrong. the owners have the upper hand because their money comes from later in the season. And better cba agreements raise the value of their franchises. Many are better off waiting until the last minute.
players have to play to make their money. and they don't have very long to do it. so far the teams that do make profit are willing to sit and wait, anticipating bigger future profits. (at least for now. Ed Snider may be reconsidering)

**** it. cancel another season. cancel the league. scrap the whole bit and start over with a new original 6.

You won't be watching hockey in Ca for a very long time.

No...it isn't. I've been a fan a very long time but I've got my own problems to worry about.

Well, I'm going to be one of those suckers. I'm not going to deny myself my favorite entertainment "to send a message." It is a business dispute between two parties which have nothing to do with me. It's not personal and it just isn't that important. I'll spend my money to entertain myself in other ways when my favorite entertainment is unavailable. When it becomes available again, I'll spend my money on it again. I'm not going to sit and pout because my favorite toy was taken away.

And I believe that is the attitude of most fans. Frankly, THAT is exactly why these clowns (nhl and pa) can get away with this. If they had to start play in front of empty buildings...especially in normally good hockey towns...THEY'D never pull this crap again. Ever.

Your positions are internally inconsistent. If the NHL not playing isn't a problem, why would you stay away? By staying away you're sending a message and acting like it is your problem.

No. If I'm a fan and I stay away I'm saying I DON'T CARE. Even if I do "care" it still isn't my problem. I'm just taking the attitude that these dolts will get done what needs to be done eventually. How or why or how much or who's negotiating or not means little to me. After a new CBA is signed no one is going to remember any of that crap anyway.

But if fans really do "care" and you want this not to happen again I suggest staying away.

Not going to games puts pressure on owners, not players. You might like to think that lower revenues puts pressure on players but it doesn't...because they have their contracts (or will get their contracts) - and owners will pay them a fortune whether fans show up or not.

I reached the point where I don't care but I still do.I still believe in my heart this thing gets settled soon and the Kings sell out games.They are meeting tommorrow and players are feeling the crunch.I bet they have a new CBA this week.it had to get settled before another block of games got cancelled.

Well there is that escrow issue so they don't necessarily get paid if fans don't buy tickets.

I'm not so sure it'll be this week but I agree there will be a season. I'm thinking game 1 will be December 15th.
