The only reason to hire Don Fehr is to NOT capitulate to the owners. The owners must know that and don't care if they lose another season. Essentially you can't out brinkmanship Don Fehr. Which is why I think there will definately be a work stoppage. Oh to be a fly on the wall in these negotiations.

If these greedy A-holes cant agree on a deal and end up locking out AGAIN, the league will get exactly what it deserves. And I may be the last person on earth who doesn't boo Bettman, but that sure looks like it'll change on the 15th.

They will lock out again, and Bettman just negotiates on behalf of the owners, but I guess you just gotta boo someone.

Definitely a shortened season on the way, at best.

You would think they would not be dumb enough to do it again, but alas, here we are!

Summary of the meetings: Fehr brothers storm in from one side of the room. Bettman waddles in from the other. Fehr says, "We will never split revenue 50/50"......Bettman responds, "All your salary are belong to us". The Fehrs walk outside, and announce the two sides will meet again in two weeks. Time runs out.

Despite being a pessimist all of my adult life, I'm actually thinking that the season will start on time.

I think both sides are close. NHL proposes 58mil cap with no reductions. PA is at 69mil. Roll that down to 62-63mil and a 10% rollback on caphits, but full salaries must be paid out. Cap contract limits to 7 years and I think both sides would sign it.
