I disagree it would do nothing. Don't you think it could influence a decision on a future lockout? I do. Your reaction to baseball could very well be what I'm suggesting. I know you're joking with that comment. At least I think you are. You are on to something there though. The NHL will need something huge to happen to get interest and support back if and when the lockout ends.

You (meaning FAN) doesn't. However, he NHL or PA certainly doesn't want present fans to become apathetic, do they?

Influence? Sure, but I think the most likely think to happen is the weaker teams (at that moment in time) would fold and leave hardline owners who would fight the players even harder.

Ok, but that does ME no good...except maybe I'd leave hockey (like I did baseball) and start watching lacrosse.

What you're saying is great in the abstract, but in the real world it's even worse for fans than a temporary stoppage. I'd rather hang on the sideline for a year and come back than just leave like I did with baseball. That said, if the players keep acting like a-holes they just might push me away. At least none of the Kings has been a part of that - Mitchell didn't come close to those other assclowns.

No, the players need to realize (as most players do once they retire and become owners, managers, and NHL execs) that the TEAMS are the league. Players (and owners) come and go. As a wise LGKer once said...I don't root for players, I root for the laundry.

So who else is lobbying their beer league to be awarded the stanley cup for next season?
