So who is negotiating? A collection of losers who need a new deal because, during a period of unprecedented growth in the NHL, they can’t figure out a way to run a business.
Why can't they figure out a way to run their business?

Because employee salaries are too high.

Solution: Create a new deal that will bring down employee salaries.

I think I read that somewhere once.

It's getting BORING! reading the same BS.

The only people who aren't aware of what's going on aren't fans, and they're not reading your BS column!

I agree. It is boring reading the same thing, from the same people, all of the time. And no, I'm not referring to the article.

Does anybody care anymore? Just cancel the stupid season already. There's plenty of football to last me the next couple months.

I know, right? It's like saying "f*** you" to your employer's attempt to cut your salary a bit and then being unemployed/getting a lower paycheck for a different employer. This would happen with 95% of the players if things aren't sorted out this season.

And yet again, it's not the "poor owners" fault that the previous CBA allowed player salaries to become seriously unbalanced because of revenue sharing percentages. And you can't just say "it's their fault to spend so much", because then what IS the point of the NHL? Avoiding CAP floor year in, year out, filling 50% of your arena and ultimately sucking forever? No. You have to ensure (competitive) existence for all the teams in a closed league system.

I don't see how this helps the league one bit. It's non binding but they will not come out looking pretty by breaking off from mediation in a cash grab.
