On a Saturday with traffic it's almost faster to drive the 100 miles to Bakersfield to see the Condors play... bakersfieldcondors.com: Home
But then you're in Bakersfield.
Edit: Apparently they are having a Kings Night for the Condors home opener. Weird.

Go Kings
For![]()
Personally, I'll be seeing more Steelhead games when in Idaho and going to Condor games when in Tehachapi. It's hockey, and being in Bakers field for a few hours in a very decent areana, watching hockey is not a bad deal. Hell if you want to check out some great Basque food, Bakersfield has 3 great Basque eateries that I know of, a few blocks from the Rabo Bank Areana.
I know it is Bakersfield, but as long as you're not forced to live there, it's not to bad of a place to visit for a few hours during hockey season.
Well while you guys down there are taking in the Reign (or the condors) I've got to decide to root for or against the newest ECHL franchise. We have the Bulls coming to town up here. I think I'm gonna get me a 6 game pack and take the boy. Good times will be had by all I'm sure.
More time off for the Kings might be just what the doctor ordered. It will not hurt this club to have a few more months of rest or even another 15 months of rest. Maybe the Kings are part of some type of conspiracy so the NHL can have a repeat winner of the cup... I can almost guarantee that the players are enjoying the time off. They made a little extra this year so they can ride the wave for a while longer.
Talks are back on behind the scenes, according to this article:
Recess is over. NHL and NHLPA talks resume behind the scenes, reports Peter Adler | Edmonton Journal
I live about 10 min away from where the Colorado Eagles play so i'll go to the Reign and Condor games here. Being a Former Bakersfield resident, they do have some great Basque eateries as well as a great ice cream shop called Rosemarys not to far from the arena.
Other than that I would advise your trip to be as fast as you can see a game then get out of town![]()
