Hope this is the right spot to post this...I listened to Bettman and what he had to say...Seems like he cares only what the owners have to pay and not what the fans are paying out to get seats..It's the owners who pay the big money to get the players the want. How about how much the Kings raised season tickets prices. How about they roll back ticket prices, cost of food at a game..We spend tons on jeresys and other merchandise. We get screwed, we pay more for everything related to our KINGS.So Bettman,Players, remember who spends their money to see you play, and buy your gear. Get a deal done.Give us a better deal with cheaper prices..

There is a lot wrong with this. Bettman nor the NHL doesnt control the price of seats, beer, food, parking, etc... If you have a problem with it bring it up to Luc and co because they are the ones who set those prices. Absolutely Bettman only cares about the owners cut of profits. He works for them and his job is to capitalize on their investment. I dont like the guy but he is a mouthpiece for the owners.

This is all crazy to me anyway. Last time i was on pins and needles. Trying to find blame. This time i could really care less. I have SO much more to worry about than this. My own finances are much worse than when this happened last time. Let the babies fight over pie. ill save the money and decide once they figure it out.
jom, go and xcheck like this.

You're gonne love not getting that nice, fat salary, Zach, as if you really need any more (if he's smart, he'd be set for life with the salary he's already made).

    From SLAM Sports:

The players didn't ask Fehr to go back to the bargaining table before the deadline. Fehr said there are no new negotiations planned after the two sides exchanged proposals Wednesday.

"We trust what Don is doing and the way he is handling negotiations," said Ottawa centre Jason Spezza. "We want to play. Hopefully we're able to get a deal done."

Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby said he plans to go play in the KHL if he's able to get insurance issues worked out.

No matter what they eventually agree on, I'll be thinking, "Why couldn't they agree on that before the lockout?"

The players are gonna get completely abused again. They have no leverage. Basically they are going to have to agree to terms that heavily favor the owners, but with any situation like this, if they just accepted the terms they'd look like complete idiots. The NHL will eventually give them an out of some kind to save face that union will agree to in a couple months and whatever we end up losing of the season (few months or the entire thing) will all have been done for that miniscule out the NHL ens up giving.

When he acts in his capacity as the Commissioner of the National Hockey League, he cares about what he's paid to care about. This isn't about ticket prices, jerseys, or food, so he isn't going to raise those points.

Don't like the ticket prices? Don't buy tickets. It's basic economics. Roll back ticket prices? After winning the Cup and selling somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 season tickets? Why on Earth would the team do that?

Don't like how much the food at the games costs? Don't buy it. No one is forcing you to shell out $12 for beer. The lines for concessions are so long it is sometimes impossible to get through them before the next period starts. Why the heck would they roll back prices? Again, basic economics. When folks are no longer willing to pay more for 20 ounces of beer than a 12-pack at the grocery store costs, THAT is when they'll reduce the prices.

Do you expect to be rewarded for "spend[ing] tons on jerseys and other merchandise"? You're buying a particular product and paying a particular price. If you're willing to pay that price only because you expect some sort of reward after X number of years, then you've been fooling yourself.

    Question re: playing elsewhere:

Let's say Crosby goes and does play in the KHL during a lockout. If he gets injured, and the lockout ends, is his contract still guaranteed in the NHL? I would imagine there'd be a provision of some sort regarding this, but I've never heard of it.
