have not been following to much as I hoped that they would get a deal done. That said, i do have to agree w the players on 1 aspect, the player gets a contract, the contract sb honored.

Its the owners faults for spending ridiculous amounts of $$$ on players.

We'd have to see what the new CBA says about that. My guess is the NHL or the Pittsburgh Penguins can't afford to lose Crosby.

I posed the question on HFBoards, and someone posted a part of the contract rules. As it stands, any player who gets injured doing something outside the line of hockey that's not with their Club can be suspended, without pay, until docs clear them to play at the NHL level again.

That makes sense, I just had never seen it addressed like this.

That does make sense, but I guess that part of the rule can change with a new CBA. I don't see the Penguins suspending Crosby for something like that though. If they didn't want him playing in the KHL then they shouldn't have locked him out.

Oops! Looks like I was unclear, my bad. Crosby would not be suspended just for going and playing elsewhere. If he was injured, say, in the KHL, then the NHL started playing again, the Pens could suspend him (but really just his PAY, because he wouldn't be able to play injured) until he could play again.

Basically it's a safeguard in case players go and join another league, get injured, then demand to get paid by the NHL, even though they can't play due to injury. The suspension would be lifted in this example when Crosby returned, and Crosby would only be considered suspended until he could play for the NHL again.

I hope that makes more sense.

I, for one hope the season is cancelled. That would put the LA Kings as the only team to hold the Stanley Cup for 2 years with only 6 Stanley Cup Finals games played. Tampa Bay used to be the champ with 7....has-beens. The Kings are the NEW POWER of the CBA Lockout NHL bitches!!!

I'm sure it's all to call the NHL's 9/15 bluff.
