Get a mediator in there. The mediator will be the fans. You know, since we do pay both sides' salaries.

I do this all the time...As far as I'm concerned, if I agreed to a signed contract and the customer/Owner wants to null/change it, then I'm free to go. It's that simple.

Seems the Owners want to change the contracts THEY signed without getting players approval......duh....this is not going to happen, players have many other options. Owners have NONE. But we might see lots of changes if this happens.

    This really sucks......

As a result, the NHLPA is unwilling to consider an immediate rollback or any system that would see players pay more money in escrow.

"The owners have signed all these individual contracts and now they want to change the rules so the players don't get what they're supposed to be paid under the contracts," Fehr told The Canadian Press this week. "How do you deal with that? Does a player get to say `Well, OK, my salary loss was more than I thought it would be, I can leave?'

"Does he have to go to work if they're not going to pay him what they say they were? This is pretty basic stuff here."
This is baloney anyway. The thing is the players won't bargain. Let's see what would happen if the players offer to keep their current salaries, freeze the cap at last year's level, and keep it there until the owners share of HRR is 57%. The owners might bite on that one and they wouldn't be able to say it's all about immediate relief. They certainly aren't going to bite on keeping the salaries as is and having the players get 54% and jumping back to 57% the last year.

I would never renew any of my contracts unless they went up, they are legally binding so why even ask.

?? Not really imo.... this is just an embarassment to hockey. Just hockey.

Hockey is easily the poorest of the major 4 sports, gets the least exposure, yet the players think they're entitled to make more than football players and get better benefits.

They remain the only sport dumb enough to be locked out for an entire season because they saw no problem with Bobby Holik making $9m/year. Now they're on to lockout ver. 2.0. What morons.
