Unless you can get a pledge from both sides that there wouldn't be a strike from the players or a re-issuance of the lockout from the owners, I don't think you'd see the season start without everything hammered out.

I can see it now, the season starting under some temporary agreement and Fehr using a strike right before the playoffs as leverage to get something for the players that wasn't agreed to in the temporary agreement.

Why exactly did this offer take 5 weeks? And it certainly is interesting that the offer didn't come with a public announcement from Bettman of "last best offer."

Ah!!! Ticketmaster isn't selling seats for the Nov 3rd game, and stubhub only has pairs and up. Guess i'll watch the game from home then....

If the NHLPA rejects the NHL's offer, the NHLPA WILL have lost the PR battle. I know I have said I am on the players' side, but I have also said it will be them who must bite the bullet on this one. The NHL's most recent offer will hands down be the best one the NHLPA sees.

Check ebay. They have singles.

The players should take this one...and be happy they got it.

ELCs are 2 years. Some kind of mechanism for trading player salary/cap hit is in it.

revenue-sharing formula. Also concerned about escrow for next year even with any losses guaranteed as a deferral.

They most certainly should, but they won't.

Arrrrgh. I'll be stoked if hockey returns but I have tickets to Book of Mormon on November 3rd. Hmmm, now that I think about that and how things usually go, I would say there is a virtual lock that hockey returns on Nov 2 since the 3rd is a firm commitment that I cannot change without moving into the doghouse.
