Drewiske has done a pretty solid job on the PK. Oilers only went 1-9 on the power play last night, and that one goal was a 4 on 3.
It's a lot of little things right now. 3 hit posts. Some bad bounces on clearances. Stoll got beat clean on the faceoff that led to the tying goal. And there are big things like not scoring goals!!!
Am I concerned? Yes. Am I panicking? No. Not yet.
I like that you pointed out the faceoffs. Stoll was 50% last night. And the Kings lost a LOT of faceoffs in the last minute when 1 win and clear would have meant 20 seconds and likely given them the win. During the playoff run Stoll was killing on faceoffs. I don't know the stats from Game 6 but I would guess he was something like 20-2. I remember turning to my wife during the game repeatedly and saying "he won another one". If there is a silver lining, a lot of the goals against are coming on stupid, correctable things. 2 games ago: clear the zone instead of getting stripped just inside the blue line. Last night: dominate defensive zone draws. last 2: have the shots off the post go in.
Heck, if Richards or Carter scores into the empty net instead of shooting it right into a defenseman when we were in the offensive zone in the last minute, then we likely win 2-0 and are less worried about the lack of offense.
Quick has played well so once those little things go right, the Kings will be .500. And if they can ever get the PP going, then they'll get back on a roll.
Game 1 vs Chicago: They didn't show up
Game 2 at Colorado: They played for 40 minutes
Game 3 at Edmonton: They played for 59:55
Game 4 at Phoenix?
You are right its way too late. Three games in there is no way they can turn this around. I say get rid of Quick while you can and Kopitar. Maybe we can get a third rounder for Brown. Heck just swap out for 20 new players and lets see what happens. That seemed to work well the last ten years. Geez s**T...
The reasons why there is a select few franchises that constantly perform is they build, and understand there is ups and downs and they don`t just trade pieces away every time something goes wrong. They have a system and they system may struggle at times but they never waiver off course. But people will have their opinions and you an keep playing roulette, lets trade this, and get this, change the coach and we can get this. Maybe you should be a coach then or an owner if everyone is so brillant..
I guess I just wait For Dodgers season start ..............
