In other news Huberdeau already has 3 points in his 1st game, Detroit has managed 7 SOG in 2 periods, Tarasenko has 2 goals in his 1st game, Jagr has two goals, and Hickey was scratched, Schenn with an assist.

Just curious. . .
Anybody happen to know NHL team records after a ceremony like this? Without looking I would bet the 'Banner' team losses a lot more than wins.
[Started research]
Boston lost to Flyers 1-2
Chicago lost to Detroit 2-3
Penguins beat Ranger 3-2
Red Wings lost to Toronto 2-3
Duckies beat Bruins 2-1
Hurricanes lost to Sabres in shootout 3-2
Lightning beat Hurricanes 5-2
Devils TIED Maple Leafs 2-2 (What is a tie?)
Not really conclusive. . . last 9 Stanley Cup winners were 3 wins, 4 losses, 1 tie, 1 shootout loss

that doesn't even factor in delays for stuff like jersey retirement ceremonies and whatever. i betcha that disparity gets even wider.
i mean, i remember Luc's night... THAT night wouldn't stop - it went on and on and on and on... Kings played awful, but were kept in it by Sean Burke. Burke ends up having to leave the game because he was dehydrated or stiffened up or something like that. Fukufji relieves him, and promptly coughs the game away.
Kings were not sharp, but I won't criticize too much. It is game 1 after no real training camp, no pre-season games either. Quick was not focused, but he has historically been a slow starter and thrives on lots of games in sequence and seeing lots of shots to find his groove.
Today should serve as a wake-up call. That is all.
