While I'm no huge Murray supporter......... this season is kind of demonstrating what I was suggesting last season when there was talk of firing Murray....

The problems this Kings team routinely faces have less to do with coaching or scheme or system and far more to do with effort and focus and commitment from the players.

Now it may turn out that firing a coach is a really excellent way of galvanizing a team and making them bear down on the things they need to do to be successful... but that doesn't mean it's the old coaches fault they sucked and it doesn't mean the new coach is the sole reason they excelled.

The average life span of an NHL coach is under 4 seasons and ultimately their bag of tricks only runs so deep. There will come a day when we're all calling for the head of Coach Sutter and he probably won't deserve it any more or less than Terry Murray did.

The interesting thing is that the Kings have used "the game against the Red Wings" as their wake-up call the last 2 years. Unfortunately, they either get embarrased in those games or take 50+ shots and don't score. I am preparing for one large disappointment of a game tomorrow, but the bright side could be that the Kings finally pull their heads out of their collective butt afterwards.

Those lines are atrocious, forwards and D.

The bigger reason why Murray got blamed is because he personified the team's lack of energy.

Plus, Sutter won a cup, so I don't see any rational fan turning on Sutter before looking at the players ever again. As far as I feel, he can do whatever he wants to the players and I'll believe there's a good reason.

I think the Kings are sorely missing Murray this year. Last year they had the "home plate" defense engrained in them, and then they added the flexibility on offense that Sutter provided. This year, they have forgotten the effort required to play defense when your team is not scoring much.

I 100% believed last year's playoff run to be a perfect storm and a fluke compared to what this team is really capable of.

And the UNDER 10 games cashes on last year's run being called a fluke. Impressive.

Any takers on the Over/Under 21 games for a Fire DL and/or Sutter thread?

The Kings aren't missing Murray at all. They're missing Mitchell and Greene. If you don't see the impact those two have on the defense then I don't know what else to tell you...

No way you can call last years run a fluke based on the slow start of this year. There was no training camp so I'm not incredibly surprised by this start . Hopefully we can finish off the road trip strong.
