Default Price gouging for opening night tickets

I get it from secondary markets (craigslist, ebay, etc.), but from the team, really? $155 to start seems kind of steep. I know this will be the most special opening night in Kings history, but it is still a regular season game after all. I always knew on my budget I wouldn't be able to go to any playoff games, but I was holding out hope that I could experience at least some of the Stanley Cup euphoria at the banner raising on opening night..... well so much for that one too. Especially on the heels of the lockout where billionaires and millionaires are trying to squeeze every last penny out of each other, and when all is said an done, we get to foot the bill for the festivities and the rest of the season. Rant over. Have fun if you are one of the lucky 18,118.

    Economics 101. Supply and Demand.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Also keep in mind that there're more season ticket holders this season.

It's called Dynamic Pricing. For those people bitching and moaning about scalpers buying up all the tickets......

We're having a Kings party at my house. Craft beer and appetizers are much cheaper. Plus there is never a line for the bathroom.

Why should the kings sell tickets for 30 bucks only to have someone turn around and sell them for 150. Better for the team to sell it for that much.

Thus an article from nearly two years ago and I don't think ticket master ever actually rolled this out.

More so, the kings aren't using dynamic pricing.

....because they aren't going to turn around and sell that $155 ticket for $150. Now, it's going to go for $350 or so and the fan who was going to be able to go for $300 now has to pay $700. This idea that these tickets won't be sold at a markup is naive at best.

The only reason that the Kings are selling this ticket for so much is because they know a lot of folks want to go and that they can charge what they want because people will pay it.

On the plus side, I just checked my season ticket password thingy and there was one seat available in the 300's and the rest were in the PR and 100's for a price of $300 each. Singles only. So, I guess you'll get a really good deal on the aftermarket since they priced them so high that they won't be too expensive. Better hurry though, on Stubhub they're only at $180 each for that $155 ticket right now. Well, the ones that aren't already being priced at $220 that is.

Man... I guess the days of me plucking tickets from eBay at a 11 bucks a piece on game day are over.... Oh well. I'll take the winning.
