Well, this article (though a good read) emphasized flash, dash, and cash, especially the Suter and Parise signings and the Weber offer sheet. The Carter trade will, IMO, one day be viewed in a similar manner as the Goring trade (1980) and the Francis trade (1991), trades which directly led to Stanley Cup wins, if not dynasties. In terms of impact, it should be ranked #1.

I didn't hate the trade but was more leery about it because of the length of contract and given his playoff history and being injured. The cap hit was good but the years is just insane. But we won the cup now and he had a huge part in it so I am fine with the years now since it took this long to win a cup and having the feeling of what it likes now to win one, the years don't matter to me anymore :)
I didn't like it at the time, but knew it was necessary. I like JJ's character and effort, but I'll be damned if he didn't make some bonkers mistakes out there. Can't argue with the results though, The Cup is The Cup no matter how you look at it.Quote:

I hated to see Jack go but I was all about it. Voynov is already a top 4 pairing def with tons of upside. Plus we added a much needed scoring winger to the line-up. But I won't lie, this trade was big risk and IMO is the reason why they have the cup.Quote:
