Puck daddy's summer of disappointment LA Kings
Personally I'm pretty torn on the most disappointing team section. This reads fairly well for a fan from like 2000 on. I'm sure others could come up with more disappointing teams in history. The 93-94 team was a pretty epic bummer, going from SCF to literally only having Gretzky's 802 goal be the only thing to look forward to as a fan was pretty much a surefire way to kill the bandwagon brigade.

As far as the series goes, this one was a pretty weak write up. Kind of wish they had found somebody else to write this one. Just didn't quite have the personality/humor that some o fthe other write ups had.

Hating on purple & black? That's a paddlin'.

Some of these seem like they were better because they were written not for the specific teams fans but a general audience which I think was a big key. We probably need the opinions of some east coast fans to really sort it out though.

Was surprised to read most disappointing King was Jeremy Roenick. Also do you guys really hate those 98-02 jerseys? I thought the one Larry Murphy was wearing was hideous. The 98-02 ones were okay - not great - but not horrible either - interesting to see that one on the list.

I hated Roenick as king. I also just generally hate the guy. The mid 2000s were the pits of despair - there was just little to get excited about - it was hard to even imagine the Kings having a good season in any permutation of the future. Just utter misery, that was the toughest time to be a Kings fan, which is what makes this run unfathomable, and pinch-yourself worthy.

Well I think this pretty much confirms that the weak effort Helvetica was talking about was true.

The Purple and Gold carries a ton of nostalgia around here. I do remember the Los Angeles complaints with the shield crest though. The Burger king jerseys are by far the worst and only nostalgic now. I'd have gone with the stadium series jersey as it was completely underwhelming and I still hate the guy that wears the grey jersey to pickup so he can be on both the light or the dark team.

J.R. was a complete waste.
...and in hindsight the purple and black shield jersey is pretty bad indeed.

If you had been around here (either on LGK or here in LA in person), you wouldn't be surprised about the $5M Thief. He came in fat and woefully out of shape, then tried to justify the action as a protest against the owners for the lockout (?!). He also got one of the equipment guys fired due to his continual bitching and moaning about the way his skates were sharpened. He fell on his ass a lot, but, since he always looked out of gas on the ice, I'm betting that was a more likely cause but he needed a scapegoat. There were 20+ other guys on the team that had no problem with their skates.

The highlight of his tenure with the Kings was his little disco shuffle at Frozen Fury that year. It wasn't worth $5M.
As for the uniforms, I agree. The current ones are the worst

Now I feel like an idiot cause my favorite Kings logo was the 98-02 logo (that's the logo on my Kings jacket), then 02-07, then the one they have now, then 80-88, then the Chevy logo. Am I weird????
