Anyway, I realize the reason I am posting in a thread about this, late on a Sat is because I really am going to miss the guy. Don't care about a couple of jerks.
I thought when the used his call to announce the arrival of the Cup was stirring. You could hear Dave's voice cracking a bit at the end. Wish I had been there to observe the moment.
I knew, liked, worked with David Courtney and respected the hell out of him and absolutely LOVED what they did for him at Staples today.
But a MOMENT of silence shouldn't last 90 seconds.
Again, respect was paid, but how much time is too much time?
Truth be told, In Old English, a moment was an exact measurement of time being 1.5 seconds or 1/40th of one minute. However, in more modern English usage it has simply meant an inexact and brief length of time. (this was confirmed by the University of Maryland who did a study on it)
Him not being there and not hearing his voice I think put a slight cloud over the day and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted that.Very very sad.Much too young to pass.
Then call it a minute of silence, who cares!!! As far as I'm concerned, it could have lasted an hour. Great gesture and perfectly done by Bob Miller and extremely well handled by the 18,000+ in attendance.
My ****ing phone rang in the middle of it! It was a loud ass Dethklok song too.
There was a drunk couple behind me and the Girl twice said "we love you david" during the moment of silence. I didnt mind but after the silence was over she turn to who she was with and aked " who's david?" That was just the start of the day with them.
You guys see this? It is pretty awesome.
Any video of this moment of silence? It was not on the NBC feed.
