It's a nice idea, but if the Kings did that the players wouldn't get to be a part of it. I would rather wait and see it done properly. Granted that might not happen until the 2016-17 season at this point, but properly none-the-less.
Hells no! Tradition is to raise the banner at the first home game of the season following the Cup win. I waited 45 years for the cup win...I can wait until Greedfest 2012 is over. Cancel the season...fix what's broke...then bring on the games for the next season.
How bout we flip the script. The fans should host a banner raising party at one of the bars that has supported Kings hockey over the years... and we'll invite the players.
NO. i don't want to see the banner until it's raised at the home opener. i waited a long time to see them win the cup. i can wait a little longer to see the banner the right way.
i don't see a rally or a banner raising without a game to unite kings fans. the rally after the cup win was out of momentum. 90% of the people there were at best casual fans, at worst bandwagon-hoppers. then there's us, the 10% who watch and go to every game. there's no momentum right now. in fact it's the opposite. we're in a hockey recession now that the salary bubble burst. if the kings announced a banner raising rally at staples, they wouldn't even 'sell out' the arena
on the bright side the pond is opening for a free skate for kids club members. i say we all go there with inflatable cups in hand, sneak them into the arena, inflate them, and start skating around until they kick us out
While I am not completely opposed to this, USC Kings fan and Kings fan19 both have valid points. If something like this was to be done ( hypothetically of course ) I could see myself driving down from Sacramento for it.
