Default Remember when the Montreal Canadiens were in the Kings Division?

I do...and it sucked. They were so good - Everybody on the team was a "GUY"...LaFleur, Lapointe, Robinson, Dryden...kidding...but when the Kings got "stuck" in their division, Les Canadiens were unreal:

    POINTS -

    113
    127
    132
    129
    115
    107
    103

    1974-1975 - still bitter...Kings have 105 points...but lose to Gord MacRae and the Leafs in 3 games...all one-goal games.

It got better later when the NHL absorbed those WHA teams. Then the Kings only had the likes of Edmonton & Calgary in the division.

Here is the last year the Kings were in the Norris and the first year the Kings were in the Smythe:

    Norris - 1980-81
    Montreal Canadiens
    Los Angeles Kings
    Pittsburgh Penguins
    Hartford Whalers
    Detroit Red Wings
    *edited

    Smythe 1981-82
    Edmonton Oilers
    Vancouver Canucks
    Calgary Flames
    Los Angeles Kings
    Colorado Rockies

In 80-81, Edmonton was already in the Smythe, as they were in 79-80 (their first year in the NHL), and Calgary was in the Patrick, having just moved from Atlanta (they weren't a WHA team Bogey, geez! Winnipeg was.)

*Chicago wasn't in the Norris until 1981-81 per Chicago Blackhawks (1926-Present)

Reminds me of the "Cheers" where Eddie's out of of town and Carla's waiting for her gift from him to arrive.
Flowers come for her from an "Edward Le Bec."
She throws them to the ground, knowing that the guys at the bar bought them. How?
    Eddie's first name isn't Edward, it's Guy.
Carla, why does he go by Eddie? "'Cause it's too weenie to say Guy."
    Don't turn around, wo-ao!
    Der Kopitar's in town, wo-ao!

Actually, the Norris in 1980-81 was:

    1979–1981
    Detroit Red Wings
    Hartford Whalers
    Los Angeles Kings
    Montreal Canadiens
    Pittsburgh Penguins

That's 79-80, unless hockeydb.com is wrong, and upon further research, it looks like it is!

    Uh oh, hockeydb*

Edit: OK, I have two references that say the way I have it is right and two that say CUP4LA is right.

Anyone want to chime in here?

*hockeydb has got it wrong. Chicago wasn't in the Norris until 1981-82 per Chicago Blackhawks (1926-Present)

Wikipedia...LOL...I'm going to go on there - and give the Stanley Cup to the Kings in 1993...just to see how long that can stay up until a correction.
