at this point, I'd give up the assets for Vanek.
Cornell Hockey - LETS GO RED!
"I love this f***ing team right here."
if the kings make a trade, i hope it's for someone that will be here long term. no rentals
What assets do the Kings have? It is all a gamble.
At this point the Kings would have to pay to have someone take him as cap offset for an incoming salary.
Mostly the same for Greene or Mitchell. Or Clifford. Or Fraser. These guys aren't assets other teams are calling for. They are readily available all around the league. Carcillo is worth a 7th round pick. And he's a sometimes 2nd or 3rd line player. 4th line guys and 3rd pairing D just don't bring anything. (except for talent miss-evaluations that lead to multiple 2nd round picks)
Teams giving up talent want young, cost controlled players (entry level contracts, rfa's), and draft picks in the first 2 rounds. Nothing else.
The only real strong asset is Toffoli, maybe you throw in Zykov in there as a player who could really be a steal. Anyone else is a real B level prospect. Factor in the tradable pieces in the lineup right now, there's nothing that would even come close to being a good package for Vanek. Why would a team just give up a big name player to the Kings whom they know are struggling for goals?? If anything teams asking prices for DL will be a lot stiffer since they know he really would like to make a deal to get a scorer.
