The optics are bad in such cases and noticeable to a casual observer. It doesn't necessarily mean he's irredeemable, but I think it does say that he's not a top pairing guy (at the moment, or if ever) and needs to be slotted accordingly by Sutter so as not to make him look so bad.
Muzzin, for example, does a pretty good job of getting his wrist shots through -- does a better job of that on occasions than Doughty who liked to take a big wind-up that gives defenders enough time to slide into the shooting lanes. And he has a surprising knack of being able to keep the puck in the offensive zone during attempted clears.
I still worry about his on-ice decision making on pinches, stepping up for hits, passing or not passing, and positioning. I'll admit I can't say for certain if that's bad hockey sense or what's to be expected of a still inexperienced offensive defenseman, however. Either way it still makes me want to pull my hair in frustration.

he's a much better fit to be the puck mover with a SAH guy than to be paired with Doughty. with that being the case, i wouldn't mind seeing him in a deal to bring back what the Kings need than to play 12 minutes a game on the third pair.

One word to describe Linden Vey being pulled from the AHL All Star Game - bizarre. Haven't heard a reason as to why. Will pass on if I do.
This just may be the NyQuil talking, but I wouldn't be surprised if MR gets dealt. Just my drugged up opinion, but homie don't look happy.
