He was never as bad as some of you made him out to be.
He was playing badly though. He was a step or two behind very often. And that may return when he runs into unfavorable matchups. But he was just one member of an entire unit that was struggling; as he is now one member of a unit that is playing really well.
He was very good on the 5v3 last night
He still can't move the puck worth a darn.
He never belonged on the top pairing and now that he's not, he is doing better, although his TOI was always limited.
at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.
