Well good luck to him, I'll be interested to see how he runs the site. My expectations are not that he'll try to imitate Hammond at all, but I would welcome some objectivity should he display it.

The guy will compile post-game quotes and conduct the occasional interview and crunch a few numbers here and there. Anyone with beat writing experience is more than capable of doing this job.
100% correct to not hire The Mayor or CBGB or any other die-hard fan of the team. It's a beat reporting job, even if it comes in the form of a blog... it isn't built for opinions or columns.
