Save the Clock Tower!
My fear is the Quacks come in and rebuild it up and make it another Rinks
I just feel the Kings think they don't have to pretty much for that reason. I would agree with that logic now but all of these kids growing up and playing in Ducks rinks, what do you think is going to happen? The Ducks taking over all of those rinks is a good business move for their future, there will be A LOT more Ducks fans in the next 10 to 15 years than there are now, damn it.
The Kings have their own interest and investment in a skating facility, Toyota Sports Center, a mere 8 miles south of Culver Ice.
I imagine they're not averse to an increase in business for no extra costs.
The owners may not tear it down, they may just let someone else run it. It is a valuable property, but what's underneath that rink is anyone's guess. A property that size in West LA is very valuable, but you could be buying a huge problem. Toxic chemicals from half a century of Zambonis and whatever they put in the ice, ground frozen solid for however many feet underneath, who knows what else might be lurking. The clean up could end up costing a fortune. Turning that place into something other than a rink will not be that easy.
