I just posted this in the Vbookie thread, then saw this thread. I agree with what you are saying.

    Hail Scrivens.

I know he does not have the body of work of Quick but I wanna just say as of now..I mean based on play this year only I have felt more comfortable with Scrivens in the net than with Quick. When Quick was playing I was always expecting the crappy goal to go in, but with Scrivens I don't get that anxiety.

This is true also....there are only 5 teams that have allowed fewer goals than Los Angeles's 53, and San Jose (52) and St. Louis (50) have two fewer games played. SO we are near the top defensively in that aspect.

Default Scrivens is getting it done

I think one of Scriven's best attributes is his brain. He seems to be a student of the game and positions himself perfectly. I like his aggressive style. San Jose will be a big test for him.

I think the reason he was so excited after this one - besides just beating those horrible people - is that even during this amazing run he'd been 0-3 after regulation, so it probably felt great to win an OT game..

As discussed in previous threads, the trade had to happen one way or another. We don't know exactly what people were offering but from what they said, TO was really pushing for Bernier while others were just kicking the tires. Obviously the Kings needed a backup to replace Bernier and also got a LWer and a 2nd round pick. Frattin, imo can go so one of the kids can be on the team. The thing that makes this trade so good is to see what Scrivens can do and show he can handle the load when called upon and doing so above and beyond expectation. That in itself was well worth it and now the Kings still have a 2nd round pick which can be valuable either using it in a trade or using the pick as DL does do good with 2nd rounders.

The down side is though, Scrivens may know his ability now and want to be a #1 in a year and might want a trade like Bernier did. Being a backup behind Quick is like being a backup behind Manning, Rodgers or Brady. You won't see much playing time and be awhile before you would get the shot for that team.

No need for him to want a trade, he can sign wherever he likes next year.

Hoping he resigns though. That would be cool.

To me the trade was about the 2nd round pick.

When Rinkrat coined "Scrivezina" I don't think any of us had any idea...

surprise miller or foxie didn't give this more attention after the game, but i felt, even while live, that this was a turning point of the game. huge saves right there. vancouver even appreciated it with the 'hero' song playing after the play!

also seeing how scrivens is playing, this seems to have been an even trade, and i don't know why toronto needed bernier when they had scrivens. granted he's only played 5-6 consecutive games, but it's not like it was a known that bernier could handle the workload either. if anything i think this has benefited LA. kings got a cheaper bernier when they needed cap relief

Oh. I didn't even realize this was his final year on his contract. I would hope he resigns, but after showing what he can do so far, I wouldn't be surprised to see some teams offering some decent cash for him. Why can't he have at least 2-3 years left :(
