Obviously it didn't turn out the way we wanted, but they didn't lose much of anything and they were able to easily move his reasonable contract.
how is cap space an issue right now? only people I can think of not pulling their weight aren't big cap hits, and are free agents at the end of the year, including gagne. (not being a dick, legitimate question)

It's a CONDITIONAL fourth. Wonder what the condition is? Maybe we have to win the Cup again?

I always liked the thought of Gagne being here in LA and had hoped he would have worked out. But he never truly fitted here. Might as well get something for him.

    Bye Gags.

No way they should/would. Gagne was in the press box. Toffoli is a kid and needs to develop and finish out this year at least in the AHL. No reason for him to come here and sit in the box. Penner is playing better (still not stellar worthy) but once he is gone after this season (or traded before) then Toffoli will get a shot in camp and see how he does.

a 4th for a player that was sitting, not gonna be re-signed, not bad.

not that it frees up room, but 1 less vet for taffoli to work thru. penn will prob not be here next yr either.

I'd imagine he's (DL) the same thing he did with Westgarth. Get the pick, then package the pick in with something for our real need - Defense.... since Mitchell and Greene are likely done for the season.

How do you figure? He cost nothing. You gain his cap hit, which while not huge, is not the minimum either. You gain his roster/contract spot. You gain the draft pick. For a guy that isn't playing much and not contributing almost anything when he DOES play.

    Win, win, win.

Good luck Simon. I hope we see you in the finals!

Get a guy for nothing, and then when he isn't doing the work necessary to crack the lineup, get a draft pick for him?
Assuming you're talking about Lombardi, I don't see the poor asset management. At all.

If you're talking about Sutter not using him, or not getting the most out of him, it doesn't get any simpler than "Do the work in practice and you'll get in a game. Do the work in game and you'll get another game." When Penner outworks you...

    Worked out great.
