at the draft party a couple of years ago, and under a considerable haze, i heard Birdman yell out the following (about 4 or 5 times, i think) - "don't marry yourselves to players!" he went on to reiterate that idea more than once on the boards, and i believe it to be absolutely sage.

Some really interesting stuff, thanks!
"Intermissions during regular-season games are increasing to 18 minutes from 17. Falling under the category of “Ice Conditions,” the new CBA reduces on-ice activities from five minutes to four, leaving 14 minutes for resurfacing and setting of the ice. It also gives more fans time to buy drinks without missing the game."
Money
• Beginning with a players' second contract, they are entitled to their own hotel room on the road.
Don't like it.
• Teams (if asked by the NHL) must participate in at least one international game over the course of this CBA. The NHL Premiere Games in Europe don't appear to be going anywhere.
Ugh
• The NHL and NHLPA will establish an “Owner-Player Relations Committee,” which will meet at least twice a year on how best to grow the game for the mutual benefit of the parties and fans.
Right..... "and fans".
I still can't believe they spent time discussing how expensive their milestone gifts should be.
Remember when it used to be 15 minutes?
