I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say it's because he was playing beer pong/hurricane later that evening. You ever try playing drinking games with Fat Tire? Not pretty.

Query why no one set him up with some Bud Light (another swill beer) in the Kings commemorative bottles!

Two thoughts on this whole thing:

1. Does anyone else think they should put the band with the names on there before the cup goes to the players? Let the team do a thing with it till the awards, send it to the HHOF, let them do the band, then give it to the guys. How much cooler would it be to get it and see your name and teammates names on there?

2. Why doesn't the NHL allow the cup to stay with the winning team for a year after they win it. Let that org use it to celebrate the championship and for charity functions around the city. The original is still in Toronto but the replica could stick around for a while. Just seems like an obvious thing to do. I mean, how cool would it be to see that on display every time you went to Staples for instance?
