He was an *******, but he was good

I'd rather have a complete ******* who does a great job than a good guy who sucks...

He's moving closer to home, good for him.

And hopefully Lombardi doesn't underestimate the importance of a good S&C coach like a few people on this thread.

I guess the Kings chances to repeat are now significantly diminished because the exercise rah-rah guy took a new job. What's next - the Zamboni driver leaves too? Seriously - how about letting the GM focus on what really matters - and that's the players and makeup of the team.

So on a team focused on grinding, hitting, and playing this way for 82 games + playoffs, you don't think it matters to have a coach who is the best at improving the players AND prospects strength, conditioning, and recovery ability? How do you think the Kings won 3 game 7s and play the most games en route to a Stanley Cup? It wasn't just skill.

Edit: don't forget winning in multiple, multiple overtimes.

The job position needs to be filled but by no means is the guy leaving responsible for winning you 3 game 7s on the road nor the cup for that matter. If you guys are worried about losing the exercise coach it's going to be a pretty stressful summer.

I hope we find an effective replacement, 'cause conditioning has obviously been a team strength
this PO run (going 26 games, etc).

    However,
I wouldn't worry about Van Asten.
    I'm sure, wherever he goes,
    he'll be in good shape.
