Tickets: Why Won't They Scan Barcodes from a Mobile Device?

I wouldn't get to upset with jt. The rat has pretty thick skin, and hell, I've heard him refer to himself as retarded from time to time when he's stepped on his dick with golf shoes.

I'm not a teckie, still just use a simple flip phone that is, well, just a phone. I had no idea you could even put the ticket on your smart phones, and understand less why you would even want to.

And the first quote above is frightening as hell.

Didn't I hear that the Blackhawks gave all their season ticket holders a card that can just be swiped at the door every game?

The Kings should do something like that.

This has been suggested by many of us in the various surveys sent by the Kings in the past few years.

Ontario reign have scanned a barcode from my iPhone... And they used their iPhone scanner to do it...

Uh, I think you misunderstood (and take me WAAAY too seriously). I know Mike/rinkrat, I didn't call him retarded...he's not retarded - he's awesome. Hell, I wish I could BE him. He didn't make the decision to have a system that can't scan phones...or to have a system that can but employees who can't (or won't). He's got nothing to do with this.

What's retarded is if he's right that it can't scan phones. I guess I didn't fully explain myself and I should write longer posts. I'll take that under advisement and see if I can learn to do that.

As to your other point, I don't care who's who...I'll call it like I see it whether it's a moderator, owner, long-time poster, blogger, podcaster, legitimate media person (:taunt:), or newby. Except for mitchrock.

Yeah, me too, I'll keep that STH ticket of game 6 forever...a scan's not so good for that. But being a collector I'd rather keep the hard ticket in nice condition at home than have to take it to the game and crease it in my pocket.

Add me to this list. I have tickets going back to the early 70's.

I would like the option of scanning a code or a card. A card would be cool. They already give us a discount card for the store, it seems putting a barcode on that wouldn't be too tough.

I have a feeling that if they put barcodes or make a card or whatever, they'll stop sending hard tickets completely. Sometimes it feels like technology can ruin things.

Not wasting money/environmental resources for ink and paper for something that's going in the trash after they scan it. Keep in mind I'm talking about the home printed, electronic delivery tickets. The ones that look like crap and are surrounded by ads. Not the fancy STH tickets.
