Default TL comments STH's may want to ask their reps about

I'm thinking there might be some very upset STH if any of this happens with the Kings or AXS

Leiweke discusses plans for life after MLSE - Sportsnet.ca

Leiweke believes there’s an opportunity to challenge StubHub on the resale of tickets in major markets (he mentioned New York, Toronto, Chicago and Los Angeles specifically) and plans to work directly with teams to do it. He marvels at the risk-free business-model StubHub has created — risk-free since the company takes a cut of tickets sold through its website as a middleman, but never actually owns any inventory.
Leiweke said that Leafs season tickets will be delivered electronically starting on Jan. 1, which allows the company to control how they can be transferred. When one of those tickets is sold on the secondary market, MLSE will oversee the transaction and “give the money back to the person selling the ticket for the original face value and then we’ll keep the upside,” according to Leiweke.
Yeah so want to make your STH money back by selling one of those finals games......

In order to determine where the tickets go he would have to gain control over the electronic side of the ticketing. This would force the ticket owners (i.e. me) to just print off my electronic tickets as if I was going to the game myself, and then list them on stubhub and deliver them in hard copy format. It would be a step back in terms of having to run my tickets to FedEx and ship them off in an envelope (as opposed to delivering them electronically like I do now) but that would be one way for me to still keep control.

Yeah, there are solutions now to counter it. But if they happen to enforce it... they could have very evil rules. x_x

Thinking about this more - the only way a team can prevent a resale is to make all tickets ONLY available at the pickup window the day of game - so you would have to pick it up and present id. I can't see them doing that as most of us give tickets to family and friends at times and don't just sell everything.

FWIW, I don't think you announce something that stupid unless you have a definite plan to enforce it. There are pretty much 0 fans that will think "Hey this is a great idea that will benefit my STH experience with MLSE greatly"

I often forward my tickets to friends or family and let them use games. I also often save PDF's and put them on stubhub if I can't make a game. It's completely legitimate and frankly very convenient.

If anything, they could start their own stubhub (uhh.. ticketexchange/), since obviously they are just trying to get a piece of the pie for tickets sold over face value. but frankly doing that or trying to put us in that position sounds like a nice big FU.

I went to a Tottenham game in London a couple years ago, and we used a guy's permanent card with his name on it. I guess he got it and that was his admission to every game (no electronic tickets). But I guess even letting us use it was a big no no that he had to be very careful with.

Someone is entering Rob Blake status, if he's not there already.
