Frenzy on Figueroa gets the boot next. As great as it was, it was in the first round and did not clinch a playoff series. The same could be said for the Miracle on Manchester, but the latter was a bigger comeback.

It's a rather...I don't know what to call it, the criteria you're using to determine the top games.

Predictable is one word that could be used.

I will stick with my previous vote based on my scoring system and again go with San Jose Game 7, which came in 10th place for me. As I said before...

Each game gets up to 10 points for how good the game was if it was in a complete vacuum, then bonuses of up to 2 points for what led up to the game, up to 4 points for what resulted because of the game (only one thing gets this past 2 points though), up to 2 points for an upset factor, up to 1 point for a rivalry factor, and a point if there was one amazing single moment in the game.

So, the previously eliminated Anaheim Game 7 would score 6 (game itself, kind of a beatdown, but an entertaining one) + 1.5 lead up (came back from 2-3 series, the game one Gaborik magic) + 1 rivalry (the max) + 1 moment (cheating Corey gets denied on penalty shot) = 9.5, which would be good for 8th place on my list.

San Jose Game 7 scores 6 (game itself, another bit of a (deeply entertaining) beatdown) + 2 lead up (the max, came back from 0-3 series, it was over at 2-3 though), + 1 rivalry (the max) = 9. If we were ranking series, this would be higher, but I can't give this game more than the 2 extra points just for being the last game.
The newly eliminated Detroit Game 6 actually came in fifth place on my list, scoring 8 (game itself, OT elimination of Red Wings, who swept us the year before, in our arena with a good amount of annoying Detroit fans), +1 lead up (came back from 0-2, got swept the year before), + 2 upset (the max), + 0.5 (rivalry) = 11.5, plus the secret tiebreaker, which it did not need.

I voted Penner last time and I am sticking to that vote. I was ok with Deadmarsh being eliminated but now it is time for Penner to be eliminated too. Yes, the Frenzy was first round, but so was the Miracle on Manchester and the Reverse Sweep. What makes both those games bigger then the Penner game was how close they were. The Phoenix series was a blowout. It wasn't even close. In 20 years, we will be like, "it happened." We will remember it mostly for our route to the Cup but not in the same way as the Reverse Sweep. The Frenzy was a epic comeback that should NOT have happened.

In my humble opinion, Penner should be 8, the Reverse Sweep should be 7 because the individual game wasn't that important though it signifies a huge accomplishment, and then the Frenzy should be 6. Then the choices get harder for me.

I don't understand this logic. Why would Frenzy be lower than Game 7 vs San Jose? Which one was the better game? Both were first round games. Frenzy was a spectacular 3 goal comeback with less than 7 minutes left in the game in the pre-lockout NHL. The win vs San Jose turned into a blowout (granted that was because of two empty net goals).

Anyway, once again my vote goes for game 7 vs San Jose. I voted for it in the last round. It shouldn't have topped Deader's game 6 either.

Game 7 vs. San Jose completed one of the all-time great comebacks in sports history. It also catapulted the Kings to the Stanley Cup. The Frenzy capitulated the Kings to a shocking first round upset, yes, but all that lead to was a second-round defeat. Context is important to some extent. That's why I voted down the Frenzy. That said, this poll would have been a lot easier three years ago. The fact that it is harder now is a VERY GOOD thing!

But the game itself was not as exciting. Historically it was more meaningful, but when looked at as one game, it wasn't that great.

So we'll be left with one game from 2012 in the top 7? Insanity. Hell, Stoll's OT series-winner in 2012 is probably in my top 7.
