I'm not minding a potential lockout all that much. As a fan, I don't know that its a Cup hangover as much as it is basking in the afterglow. It's like this summer has been one long post-coital cigarette, cuddle, sandwich, whatever your poison may be... I sincerely, truly, honestly don't mind this round of labor negotiations. If I was a player I would think the change of habit would be more irritating than anything.
I would rather have the season start on time and the Kings not make the playoffs than lose 2 month of the season. You have to look big picture. Kings have a ton of new fans and will lose most of them with a lockout same goes for the NHL as whole.
The NHL and NHLPA need to settle for the good of the game.
If they have a lockout let it be for a year. Screw both the owners and players. The fan base will be the only winners due to the fact that no money will be spent. The employees of the arenas will suffer and that is a shame. As a fan let it be 82 or nothing. I am not playing games with these people anymore. We did it once and we lived through it. Why not one more.
