He surely does need more work in his own zone but who better to coach him than Sutter and his staff? Clearly DS likes the kid. He keeps dressing him over Fraser, despite the fact that Vey can start to run around in the D-zone. Letting LV develop in sheltered 4th line minutes at the NHL level is a fine way to get on the job training/seasoning.

Yea, agree, doesn't matter, Sutter likes saying Lewie. He's going back down until someone gets hurt/traded.

He's definitely had a few defensive lapses. At the same time, he is surprisingly seeing a lot of PK time, which means Sutter has faith in him.
Toffoli is going to stick around as well. Pearson will likely be sent back down. Its going to be interesting to see who gets traded.

I like the kid alot, he is very creative when entering the zone and creates offensive opportunities.
I just whipped this up...

Yep. I think both goals last night were due to him losing his man's stick. I don't think he would have been out there for the second goal if it wasn't the kings 25th penalty kill of the game, but still. I think he just needs to sit in that fourth line role and get eased into the line up. He's shown enough to beat out Fraser imo, and that's really all he needs for now right?

Vey Has To Stay
To be clear, I don't think Vey should replace Stoll. Stoll is so good on faceoffs, especially at the end of the game, and he's very good on the PK.
But I think Vey should definitely be in the lineup over both Fraser and Lewis (at center). Maybe Lewis still has a role on the wing but I'd much rather Vey there for 10-12 minutes a night than the other two. Especially when you consider Toffoli is likely going to be on his wing and the chemistry they have.

I'd rather he saw heavy minutes in the A than sheltered 4th line minutes here. That said, I would not be upset if the brass decided to keep him around. He has a really good feel for the game and it'll be exciting to watch him mature.

It's great that he's showing such promise. He'll make a good call-up in case of injuries later on this season.
For now, though, I agree he needs to go back to Manchester to work on his coverages.

Vey Has To Stay
It should be noted Vey is a +2 while Fraser is -2 and Lewis is -4.
I know Vey has some work to do but I still think he is at least the fourth best option at center even with everyone healthy.
