Vey is doing great as well no doubt, but reality is, he will likely be sent down. This is great experience for him and will only build on it. He will be up again barring injuries. No need to rush the development on him. Come next season, I expect to see him full time on the roster along with Toffoli and Pearson.
Toffoli I think should stay up though. He played great in the playoffs and is playing great now. For him imo he will learn more staying up for where he is at. But again that is just me.

Overall, I personally would love to see Vey stay up. Trade Frattin to keep Toffoli up. I don't see them trading Lewis right now to keep Vey in the line up and no way they trade Stoll this season. Nolan you need in the line up and is playing great for his roll so I don't see where Lewis would move to, to move Vey to center once everyone is healthy.

I know Vey has some work to do but I still think he is at least the fourth best option at center even with everyone healthy.
Being better than the 3rd/4th line guys won't make you stick. Vey Toff and Pearson are going to be expected to grow into 2-3 roles on this team. They'll get sent down and told to align their sights properly.

Not yet. He's still a little undercooked. As Mondo pointed out, he gets lost in his own zone quite a bit. You know that doesn't work on a Sutter team. In years past, he would have stuck around. Hell, he would have been in the league for a couple of seasons already. Fortunately, we're past the days of rushing kids into the lineup because the team needs warm bodies. Some more seasoning will do him a world of good.
Isn't that a great feeling. Knowing that you have kids that are so close, but can give them the extra time they need to perfect their game and yet the big club is still highly competitive and the pipeline is strong.

But is that the best way to do it? Who is Vey going to learn from in Manchester? Look at what the Red Wings do. They play their kids in the NHL in reduced roles and they learn from veterans.
Won't Vey learn more watching Kopitar, Richards and Stoll than playing first line minutes and dominating the AHL?

He clearly isn't hurting the Kings with his play and he has shown more offense in 10 games than Lewis has in 2 years. I don't know if there is much else he can learn in Manchester.

I think Pearson is a different story. I think he needs more time as evidenced by his play. He looks a little lost.

I don't see any reason the Kings can't go with this lineup...

    Brown-Kopitar-Williams
    King-Richards-Carter
    Clifford-Vey-Toffoli
    Nolan-Stoll-Frattin

To me, that's the best lineup the Kings can ice right now. Vey/Toffoli give the Kings a third line that can score goals and be a plus line.

I like those lines, but Lewis isn't going anywhere when he comes back. If anything, Stoll could be traded in the off-season to make room for Vey. Stoll as a 4th line center is getting a hefty paycheck being that line wouldn't see tons of time. Lewis isn't having a great year, but we all know what he can do and will be a good 4th line center and also can play wing if needed. His work ethic and overall how he is, can be hard to find that is available.

I guess it depends on if Lewis will re-sign. I see his value but it's minimal as a top 9 player. If he will re-sign for 4th line center money then great, but I don't see it.

And besides, I think the future 4th line center is Andreoff. Let Stoll play there next year and Andreoff should be good to go the following year.

I posted this somewhere before but do we really think Lewis will sign for less than $2.5M/year? The cap is going up and teams will have money to spend. One more year of Stoll at under $3.5 won't look that bad and then go to the younger and cheaper option when Stoll is gone.

He reminds me a lot of P.A. Parenteau, the one time I saw P.A. play

Good lord man, Detroit is INFAMOUS for keeping their kids in the AHL until they are ready to step into the roles they are best suited.

And any lineup that doesn't include Lewis is ridiculous. Trevor Lewis is the Kings workhorse, the engine that derived their forecheck.

I really have to question what you are watching during these games.
