I just got an email that said to be on the look out for a virtual tip a king. Anyone know how this would differ from a regular tip a king?

My guess is that you don't get to be there when they sign your merchandise and you pick it up at a future date or they mail it to you.

Isn't the whole point of Tip A King to meet the players in person ? That would take the fun out of it

I don't care for the online select a seat either.It helps to see where your seats are and get a realistic vantage point.
