The point is to keep teams from taking to get the first pick. I always thought it was dumb to have the four slot restriction.

Personally, I'd like to see the lottery used to decide the whole order of the non playoff teams

Bout damn time! Was already resigned to not seeing any games from 304 this year. What a disaster this has all been. It's gonna take a bit of time to muster up normal levels of enthusiasm.

I think the point is to keep teams from trying to tank to get into the bottom 4 with the idea that the money teams make from making the playoffs even as the 16th team will outweigh whatever chance they have to get the #1 pick.

I read somewhere that realignment will be addressed for the 13-14 season. There's no way Winnipeg stays in the SW past this season.

I'm gonna get started on printing up "NHL lockout 2020" t-shirts. Eff the league and the union.

Yeah, I know what you are saying but I've never believed teams "tank". That's a load of crap. It's next to impossible to pull off...but whatever.

I am curious about the re-alignment...especially with all the talk about adding playoff teams. I'm very afraid of this....

I don't think the players tank (at least not for that reason, I think they do when they want a coach fired).

But I think teams tank in that they don't play their best lineup to win games. Some do it because they don't want to put out guys who are somewhat hurt on the field, but I firmly believe some teams do things that prevent them from having their best chance to win, in order to get a higher draft pick.

So glad to be back. I got to be honest. After our last season and with the lockout going on I really stopped showing up. I have been saving all my cheering power for now!!!!

Agreed. I watched the Lightning like a hawk at the end of the 2008 season and they absolutely did not ice their best lineups down the stretch while our motley bunch of players did all they could to sabotage securing the best chance at the 1st overall pick and succeeded.
