I hope you are right.
but as long as revenues are so concentrated, owners will continue to try to lower player costs to make money. leading to labor strife.
It's just not a stable situation.

The NHL has been the worst run sport for quite a long time now.....this does not surprise me in the least and called the season lost before it started. Bettman and the owner going to battle with Fehr had disaster written all over it. What kills me....is how great would have the regular season games against the Yotes, the Blues, and the Nucks have been? That would have been come very compelling hockey to watch. But the NHL loves to shoot itself in the foot over and over again. I said it before and I will say it again....the NHL should hire Dana White....thats a man who knows how to market his sport. He may be a douche...but the UFC on fox got higher ratings than the NHL ever did.

Maybe....some other Canadian hockey league can lay claim to the cup if the NHL doesn't play at all.

As I understand it the deal with that is that the NHL can consider allowing another league to use the cup for a season, but they are under no obligation to do so.

I would imagine that it is like your kid coming to you on their 16th birthday and requesting you buy them a BMW. You might entertain the idea for a second or two before you bust up laughing.
